This important student-run journal offers a unique forum for the scholarly discussion of animal-law issues, and is unquestionably the leader in its field. Animal Law Journal serves to educate and inform the legal community, interested parties and the uninitiated about the existing status of animal-related matters. Most importantly, Animal Law Journal endeavours to offer a balanced approach to animal issues by providing a thorough and clinical look on animals and their relationship with law.
The website profiles the Animal Law Journal, provides a list of articles written for it, and a helpful search engine to look for articles in your subject area. Unfortunately, the articles themselves are not available on the website, but interested parties who wish to subscribe can do so through an online registration form. Individual and organization subscription prices are charged at US$12 and US$15 per year.
The website also provides details of the latest journal, which for 2002 includes an introductory article on these matters by Cass Sunstein, aptly entitled "Standing to Protect the Well-Being of Animals". To pique the interest of avid readers, Animal Law Journal has cleverly included conference transcripts, discussions among scholars (such as Anthony D'Amato, David Favre, Gary Francione, and Steven Wise) and even an article about the impact of World Trade Organization Rules on animal welfare.
The Animal Law Journal is published once a year in May.
